High School: Played under Bryan Buckner and Jimmy Flake. 6-2 on the mound his sophomore year, 9-2 as a junior and 10-3 his senior season. As a senior, Sam pitched his team to the 3A State Championship where they finished as the runner-up. All-State, All-District, NEMCABB ALL-STAR GAME selection during his high school career. Also participated in the 2008 State Games.
Community College: Played one season at Itawamba Community College under Rick Collier.
Blue Mountain College: Sam pitched a lot of innings for the Toppers last season as a sophomore. Always wants the baseball. Great team guy. Experienced some arm trouble late last season and has spent the past fall preparing for his junior year.
