BMC’s Conner Helvig had a double-double against Brewton-Parker Saturday

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Blue Mountain college men ousted Brewton-Parker here Saturday 63-48, securing a late-season SSAC win.

Blue Mountain's Conner Helvig (SR/Gilbert, Az.) had a field-day with the Barons, notching a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Topper big man Denio Chirindza (SR/Mozambique, Africa) added to the fun, posting 13 points himself.

The Blue Mountain defense held Brewton-Parker to 35-percent shooting from the floor on the day, while the Toppers shot over 43-percent.

Blue Mountain knocked down 12-of-23 3-point attempts in the contest and outrebounded the Barons 39-28.

BMC head coach J.D. Parker said after the game, "I was very proud, but not surprised, of how our guys responded today after the tough loss Thursday night.  As frustrating as that loss was, I feel like we learned some valuable lessons that will help us in the long run.  Conner played a great game on both sides of the ball.  Now we have to get ready for a very good William Carey team coming in here Thursday."

Blue Mountain moves to 11-9 (8-7) on the season and nexts hosts William Carey Thursday at Tyler Gymnasium with a 7:30 p.m. tip.
