BMCís Zaen Harbin returns a backhand

JACKSON, Miss. – The Blue Mountain College tennis teams opened their weekend here, with the women going 2-0 in their first two sets and the men going 2-1.

In the morning opener, Blue Mountain women won against Centenary College 6-3, with singles wins from Suzy Bowman (FR/New Albany, Miss.) over Darcet (6-0, 6-0), Andria Barnes (JR/Mooreville, Miss.) over Perilloux (6-0, 6-0), Olivia Dunnam (SR/New Albany, Miss.) over Loren (6-0, 6-1) and Attie Finley (FR/Randolph, Miss.) over Nalasco (6-1, 6-0).

The men wiped out Centenary 9-0 with Drew Forsyth (JR/Memphis, Tenn.) over Harvall (6-0, 6-0), Mark Robbins (JR/New Albany, Miss.) over Wamsley (6-0, 6-0), Daniel Tiede (JR/Rogersville, Ala.) over McKendrix (6-0, 6-0) and Zaen Harbin (SO/Walnut, Miss.) over Morris (6-0, 6-0).

In the afternoon matches, both teams took out Tougaloo College (W) 6-3 and (M) 7-0.

The men later fell in the late set against Millsaps College 8-1.

"This was some of our players first college matches.  These wins give us a lot excitement and enthusiasm for the upcoming season, and I believe it's a good starting point to help us prepare for some tough teams," BMC head coach Warner Creekmore.
