WITBANK, MPUMALANGA, South Africa – Blue Mountain College Women's Golf has announced the signing of South Africa's Dejone Stemmett.

A 2016 graduate of Curro Bankenveld High School, Stemmett competed for her team's inaugural squad, and also for Mpumalanga state's first team where she captained the squad.

Stemmett has finished top five in various competitions during her final year, highlighted by winning the Lowveld Junior Open in her division.  Her Mpumalanga state team also captured the State Quadrangular Champioship this past June.

"To study and play golf in the United States is a dream come true," Stemmett said.  "I believe there must be a good balance between golf and academics, and I'm really looking forward to studying psychology, as well as representing Blue Mountain College on the golf course."

BMC head coach Kevin Barefield commented, "We are very excited Dejone has chosen to join our program at BMC.  She is a very talented golfer and will certainly make an immediate impact this upcoming season.  She is also very gifted academically and I fully expect she will represent our team well in the classroom."
