BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Blue Mountain College men's golf will tee off the new season Sept. 21 at the Transouth-Chickasaw Tournament at the Chickasaw Golf Course in Henderson, Tenn.

BMC is coming off a 2016-17 season that saw the program place in the top 10 of four spring tournaments and will look to fill a big void left by last year's ace, Will Lee.

BMC also brought home five Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) awards last season, highlighted by the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Head coach Kevin Barefield doubles up on the course, as he takes the reins on both the men's and women's teams at the North Mississippi Christian college.

"I don't think it's a stretch to say we didn't play as well as we could last season," Barefield stated.  "We have some really solid golfers on the roster and they've been put through their paces out there with the best players in the nation, but they are a bunch of competitors and I know they're jumping to get the season started."

This season's roster boasts 12 players, nine of which are juniors; Nicholas Brown (JR/Mooreville, Miss.), Ty Howell (SO/Pascagoula, Miss.), Cameron Kohl (SO/Marion, Ark.), Zach McDonald (JR/New Albany, Miss.), Clint Phillips (JR/Haleyville, Ala.), Kirk Reeder (JR/Tupelo, Miss.), Jordan Rockett (JR/Hoover, Ala.), Denver Russell (JR/Pontotoc, Miss.), Dillon Sartain (FR/Glen, Miss.), Charlie Doran (SO/Nova Scotia), Andrew McDonald and James Spencer (SO/Melbourne, Australia).

"I feel very good about our new talent coming in and we feel very strong about these guys strengthening our roster."
