BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. -- Channing Sanders, a hard-throwing pitcher and outfielder from Winston Academy in Louisville, Miss., has signed a baseball grant-in-aid with Blue Mountain College.
Toppers coach Curt Fowler has the potential to become a strong closer for BMC.
"When I saw Channing pitch earlier in the season he hit 85 on the gun and with his build, I believe he can add even more speed to his fast ball," Fowler said. "He should see some opportunities in spot situations on the mound next season. Could eventually develop into our closer for the future."
Sanders was the Patriots most valuable player this season and also lettered in football and basketball. He compiled a 4-2 record on the mounds with 85 strikeouts, and hit .568 in his senior season.
"With his arm and his bat, he'll be an extremely valuable player as we begin to build the program at BMC," Fowler said.
