BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. - Three standouts from Itawamba Community College have signed baseball letters-of-intent with Blue Mountain College.

Sam Summerford, a catcher and first baseman from Fulton; B.J. Johnson, a right-handed pitcher from Fulton; and Dustin Lunn, a catcher from Pontotoc, will be a part of the Toppers inaugural baseball program this fall when it begins play in the NAIA TranSouth Athletic Conference.

"All three of these young men are really good players from one of the best community college programs around," BMC coach Curt Fowler said. "They'll give us a level of maturity right off the bat that we'll need when we jump into the TranSouth."

Johnson and Lunn are 2009 ICC alumni who will transfer to BMC from the University of West Alabama.

In his two years with the Indians, Dunn had 22 home runs, 18 doubles and 97 runs batted in. Johnson compiled a 15-5 record in his two seasons at ICC with 50 strikeouts and 30 bases on balls in 98 innings pitched.

Summeerford hit .285 for the Indians with 32 rbi, two home runs and a .623 on-base percentage. He drew 20 walks and was hit by 10 pitches in his sophomore season.

Lunn, Johnson and Summerford will join ICC teammates Channing Walker and Blake Jolly on the BMC team.
