BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. - Casey Bales, a three-year captain of the White County High School cross country team, has signed a grant-in-aid to run for Blue Mountain College.
Bales, from Sparta, Tenn., recently won the Markie's Mile at Cookeville, Tenn., to cap off an outstanding senior season for the Warriors.
"Casey is a strong runner who will be able to come in and really help our program," said BMC coach Heather Duley. "He is a serious competitor and his work ethic will really pay off when we get into the TranSouth (Athletic Conference) competition this fall."
Bales finished 10th in the high school regional cross country meet and competed in the state championship with a pulled hamstring. During his senior track season, he won the Class 3A district championship in the 300 meters, 800 meters and 1,600 meters., and posted a personal best time of 2:00.17 in the state 800 meters.
