BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Grant Burns, a standout golfer for Wayne County High School and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, has signed a grant-in-aid with Blue Mountain College.
“Grant had an outstanding high school career for the War Eagles and he’s continued to improve while playing for Coach (Tommy) Snell at Gulf Coast,” said BMC coach Danny McKenzie.
“Grant is dedicated to the game and he’s an extremely hard worker. His attitude is contagious and that’s exactly what we’re going to need as we begin our golf program this fall.”
Burns, from Waynesboro, won the Class 5A District 7 championship as a senior at Wayne County High and finished fourth in the 5A state championship. During his junior year he finished second in the district championship and in the top 25 of the state tournament.
In his two years at MGC, Burns averaged 78.2 and earned spots on two all-tournament teams.
BMC will begin play in the NAIA Division I TranSouth Athletic Conference in the fall.
