Head Baseball Coach
Curt Fowler graduated from Blue Mountain High School in 1989.Â He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College where he played baseball and graduated with a BA in History from the University of Mississippi in 2000.Â Before his coaching career began, he was publisher and editor for The Professional Kennel Club magazine and Sports Editor for the Southern Sentinel newspaper in Ripley, MS.
Â He was head baseball coach at Potts Camp High School before moving to New Albany High School in 2001.Â His coaching honors include Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal Coach of the Year and District 1-3A coach of the year.Â Coach Fowler has coached in the NEMCABB ALL-STAR Game, the State Games of Mississippi, and the Crossroads Diamond Club All-Star Game.Â Since 2002, Coach Fowler has lead the diamond dawgs to county championships, division championships, north-half playoffs and state playoffs.Â His team finished the 2008 baseball season ranked 3rd in the Daily Journal poll and 15th in the Clarion Ledger poll.Â 16 of Fowlerâ€™s former high school players went on to play college baseball.
Â Coach Fowler is married to the former Fancy Bennett who teaches 4th grade at Ripley Elementary School.Â They have one son Matthew Case Fowler.Â The Fowlers attend Ripley Primitive Baptist Church.
Personal:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Coach Fowlerâ€™s father, who also served as his hero, mentor and best friend, passed away on August 2, 2011 while serving his community.Â The players have decided to dedicate this season in honor of Coach Fowlerâ€™s father, Jerry Curtis Fowler, SR.Â Mr. Fowlerâ€™s initials have been stitched into each one of the players hats this season.
