Coach Parker became the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Blue Mountain College on June 1, 2010. His hiring followed the resignation of Coach Jerry Conner, the first ever men's basketball coach at BMC. Coach Parker comes to Blue Mountain from Ecclesia College in Arkansas.
J.D. Parker was hired to start the Men’s Basketball Program at Ecclesia College in June of 2006. Coach Parker served as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Assistant Athletic Director, and taught in the Sports Management Department for Ecclesia. The Royals’ Men’s Basketball team competed as a member of the Central Region in the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association Division One. The Royals showed steady improvement under Coach Parker’s guidance.
Coach Parker’s 2008-2009 squad finished with an overall record of 23-11 and earned their first ever trip to the NCCAA DI National Tournament in Oakland City, Indiana, where they finished seventh in the nation.
Before starting the program at Ecclesia College, Coach Parker assisted the Shiloh Christian High School boy’s team in the 2005-2006 season while finishing his Master’s Degree at the University of Arkansas in Recreation and Sports Management. During the 2005-2006 season, Shiloh’s senior boys were Conference Champions, District Tournament Champions, Regional Tournament Champions, and State Tournament Quarterfinalists.
Prior to Coach Parker’s time at Shiloh Christian, he coached AAU Basketball and ran a Basketball Training School at the All Star Sports Arena in Springdale, Arkansas. During that time, Coach Parker helped coach a 17U Arkansas Wings team to the AAU Division I State Championship. Coach Parker also taught Elementary Physical Education at Harvey Jones Elementary School in Springdale for two years. Â
As a player, Coach Parker was an All-State guard for Batesville High School (Batesville, AR). After his senior year of high school, Coach was a point guard for the Arkansas Wings’ Junior Olympics team that reached the quarterfinals. Coach Parker played 4 years of college basketball at Lyon College, a NAIA school in Batesville, Arkansas where he played point guard and was an Academic All-American. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Coaching Endorsement while at Lyon College.
Coach Parker and his wife, Rebecca, have two daughters, Halle and Cate, and one son, Ty.
